The market for budget phones has changed dramatically over the past few months, so comparing the 7 Pro with the last-generation 6 Pro model is pointless. Rather, comparisons should be made with other competitors in the same segment, where the new Realme device perfectly demonstrates itself.

What's in the box?

Together with the Realme 7 Pro, we get the usual set, which includes:

The smartphone itself.

  • Protective case.
  • USB cable (A to C).
  • 65W battery charger.
  • Pasted protective film for the screen.
  • A paper clip for the SIM card tray and documentation.
  • Realme 7 Pro out of the box

Design and appearance

As is almost always the case with Realme, the new model has a great design. The back cover is made of polycarbonate – it is pleasant to the touch, when the color scheme is a combination of two gradients with a clear border, the manufacturer calls this the term "mirror design". The colors are stylish and well chosen.

Realme 7 Pro

The sides of the device are slightly rounded, making it easier to hold in your hands. The display is covered with a Gorilla Glass 3 screen protector with a pre-installed screen protector when the front-facing camera hole is located in the upper-left corner.

The power button (with a slight yellow tint) and volume keys are conveniently located at the edges and have good feedback. The 7 Pro has stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a memory card slot. The connectors together with the speaker are symmetrically located on the lower side.

Smartphone Display

Realme 7 Pro received a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of Full HD+ (2400 × 1080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Realme's AMOLED panels in smartphones up to 20 thousand rubles were not available for a long time, the disadvantage is that the screen does not have a high refresh rate.

The youngest of the Realme 7 models supports 90 Hz, however, the matrix of the 7 Pro is better in image quality and allows the user to switch to the sRGB color profile, which has more natural shades. There is also a setting that activates smooth scrolling of the displayed elements, which partially replaces the high refresh rate.

Realme 7 Pro screen

There are also "Sparkling" and "Clear" profiles available, where there are more unpleasant blue shades, although other colors add saturation. In any case, we have a choice between three preset profiles, a custom color temperature setting, and a reading mode to reduce eye strain. But if fine-tuning colors is an important feature for you, it's better to choose some Galaxy M31s-there are more similar features.

It is convenient to use the device on the street. Thanks to the AMOLED panel, the contrast is high, blacks are deep (especially in Dark Mode), and there is a useful Always-On mode that displays the time. I would like better grayscale colors in Dark mode, so that when reading notifications, you have to strain your eyes less. However, we have a convenient reading mode, as well as DC Dimming technology that reduces screen flicker.

The new model also supports DRM L1 video transmission and allows you to watch HD content on services like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Under the screen is a fingerprint scanner from Goodix, which works quickly and reliably. You can also use face recognition to unlock it.

Realme 7 Pro Cameras

For shooting in the 7 Pro, a set of four cameras is used. It consists of a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 main sensor, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel monochrome portrait sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. At the front is a 32-MEGAPIXEL front camera, which, like the main lens, produces pixel binning – four pixels are combined into one, so the final images have a resolution of 8-MEGAPIXEL.

Realme 7 Pro Cameras

In daylight, the Realme 7 Pro camera shows excellent results. The colors are close to real, the dynamic range is wide, and the detail is high. Shooting doesn't happen very quickly, and sometimes the focus is fixed on the subject for a long time, but under the right conditions, the results will be excellent. There are enough details saved in the dark, but photos look much worse, so I recommend using Night Mode, which solves the problem.

The other three cameras are quite average. The wide-angle camera lacks detail and is of little use. In portrait mode, the phone detects the borders of the main object well, although you will have to move the bokeh slider to almost 100% to get a good background blur. The macro camera allows you to take pictures from a close distance, but, again, there is not enough detail. In this situation, it is more convenient to use the main sensor, which is not worse.

Realme 7 Pro photos

The front-facing camera delivers excellent shots in bright light. Beauty mode is enabled by default, and the app has a number of other features. But you won't find anything fundamentally new here. Photo processing algorithms in this model have improved, which gives Realme some advantage over its competitors.

Realme 7 Pro Night Shooting

As for video, the Realme 7 Pro can shoot up to 4K at 30 frames per second. This is already standard for most cameras these days. Built-in electronic image stabilization (EIS) does a pretty good job, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than normal use.

System and Software

The Realme UI shell has become more stable. The manufacturer also started using more apps from Google, so the left home screen is now occupied by Google News. The overlay is not the easiest, but it looks nice and has rich settings.

Realme 7 Pro OS

By default, the operating system is very similar to the one installed on Pixel smartphones, but with nice details like digital wellbeing and Google Discover service. There are some minor changes in the app bar and quick settings menu, but nothing here seems out of place or confusing.

It is possible to record calls, both from your side and from another subscriber – this is worth remembering.

Iron performance

Realme has always been famous for smartphones with powerful hardware, so the Snapdragon 720G in the 7 Pro does not seem weak at all. It is supported by 6/8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, depending on the version, and 128 GB of internal UFS 2.1 storage.

Realme 7 Pro Performance

Having spent time playing graphics-demanding games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Asphalt 9, as well as the more casual ones like Candy Crush and 8 Ball Pool, I can safely say that the Realme 7 Pro is a great all – in-one gaming phone. Unlike the regular model, you can only buy the 7 Pro in one RAM configuration. However, it can be expanded via the microSD card slot, so you shouldn't run out of space.

Realme 7 Pro Test

Even though we don't get the aforementioned high refresh rate, you can be sure that the performance offered will help you gain an advantage over most of the players you're facing.

Communication and sound

For communication, the Realme 7 Pro uses dual-band Wi-Fi, two VoLTE-enabled SIM cards, and Wi-Fi calls. I didn't notice any problems with the connection during the tests.

Realme 7 Pro communication

In terms of sound, the 7 Pro has two speakers that work together to create a stereo effect and deliver high volume. This is good news for those who like to play or watch videos without headphones – the phone allows you to do without them. However, the sound quality is not the highest, so it is still better to listen to music in headphones, since there is also a 3.5 mm jack.

Realme 7 Pro Autonomy

Inside the 7 Pro in Realme installed a rather big battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, which is easily enough for a day and a half of use. Complete 65W fast charging ensures that energy recovery takes place at a very high rate.

Realme 7 Pro autonomy

Incredibly, I got over 12 hours on battery tests like Geekbench 4 and PCMark, even though the actual process varies a lot. Once you run out of power, charging the 65W Realme SuperDart will bring it back to full capacity in no time. The manufacturer claims that we can get from 0 to 100% in just 34 minutes, and my result of 92% in 30 minutes suggests that this statement is close to real.

Yes, we don't have wireless charging here, although ultra-fast wired charging more than makes up for it.

The Realme 7 Pro offers a lot for its price. The smartphone costs about 20 thousand rubles, but we get a device with an AMOLED display, incredibly fast charging, a nice design and good cameras.

The main sensor at 64-MEGAPIXEL here is not inferior to many more expensive models, although other cameras are slightly disappointing. Realme will compete with Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Poco X2 and Samsung Galaxy M31s. Overall, this is a great smartphone that has almost no weaknesses.

Realme 7 Pro Review of an impressive smartphone-

Should I buy it?

Yes, you'll pay more for the Realme 7 Pro than for its smaller sibling. But, this is an update in all areas. We get a stunning OLED panel as opposed to an LCD display, improved energy efficiency, and better battery life. It's nice to look at better images, have fast charging, and a processor with increased performance.
